I received the Siesta XL two days before my first trip, where I'd use it. The biggest regret was not trying to set up the tent before leaving, as it doesn't arrive with any instructions. The instructions are available online in a PDF, but they are poorly written. The pictures are NOT helpful. For example, there's no diagram that can quickly show you how pieces fit together. The photos are just not helpful, as they show intermediate steps but lack any useful details. In the end, we got the tent up, but it took way longer than necessary.
We also would have appreciated some guidance on the fans. The pictures show them blowing air IN, but unless you're on a cot, they don't provide direct relief to the occupants. I've brought a few things to help with that for next time. However, friends who bought the smaller model said they prefer the fans to vent OUT, which created a nice breeze from the low vents and kept it cool. Again, a short diagram and description of the pros and cons of fan direction would have been useful and kept us cooler over the weekend.
Upgraded from a 9 person core tent to this. It’s actually dark inside when compared to dark room tents/doesn’t turn into a oven, great ventilation, separate inner bedroom is great with air gap/fans, stayed about 10degrees cooler then ambient temps which allowed us to sleep till 1-2pm each day, easy setup.
Couple minor improvements & the tent could be even better.
