Siesta XL.

Heavy Duty Sleep.

The Siesta XL expands on the incredible performance of the Siesta4, giving you a huge boost in space, strength and fan-assisted ventilation.

Combining our new super heavy duty heat-reflective fabric with a sewn-in floor and fully-closable bedroom, the Siesta XL provides extreme versatility for extreme conditions.

150D Ripstop heat-reflective fabric & 420D floor with Dyneema reinforced anchor points.

Massive 16' x 9' floor area and 6'5" standing height.

Inner bedroom cooled by 3 ducted 8" USB-C powered fans.

Features

The outer layer fo the Siesta XL provides a completely closable heat-reflective shell. Inside, there is a separate bedroom area which is also fully closable. The bedroom area is ventilated by 3 ducted fans, which bring in fresh air from outside the tent. This combination of fabric and fans keeps the interior at ambient temperature, even in extreme direct sun.

In cold and/or windy conditions, all vents and mesh can be closed giving you 2 layers of protection from drafts, dust and sand etc.

The Siesta XL is fully freestanding, giving you a very robust setup even without guy lines. This is great for busy campsites.

For more extreme conditions, there are extra guy line attachment loops at every pole clip, which can also be used for hanging solar panels.

All key anchor points are backed with dyneema-reinforced fabric.

Our latest heat-reflective fabric is based on 150D ripstop polyester. It has incredible strength to weight performance, is extremely resistant to UV degredation and resists water to over 10,000mmH2O.

The Siesta XL includes 3 of the same 8" fans that we use for the Siesta 4, however they now come with an upgraded power adapter that not only powers all 3 fans from a single USB power bank, but by leveraging the USB-C Power Delivery protocol you get faster fan speeds for even more airflow!

Minimum recommended power bank spec is 30,000mah, USB-C with USB PD 3.0 and 18W of power. The majority of modern powerbanks meet these specs, but descriptions on sites like Amazon can be confusing or incomplete so please feel free to reach out to us for advice. Include links to any power banks you may be considering.

In windy desert conditions, the whole outer tent and the inner bedroom can be completely closed for two layers of defence against dust and sand ingress.

As the fans normally draw air in, there are a couple of options. The vents can be completely closed in the case of very severe weather. Whilst the tent won't be as cool, it will still be much more comfortable than a typical tent under such conditions.

Alternatively, a popular trick is to cut some standard HVAC filter fabric and insert it into the vents. As an example, MERV 10 fabric (left) will result in about 27% drop in air flow, and MERV 13 (right) will drop about 12%. With three fans going, this still provides great air flow and much improved comfort even with the slight decrease from the filters.

Specs

*Min Weight refers to the Siesta XL being configured with just 3 of the 5 poles and 8 of the stakes to save weight. This uses 4 guy lines as opposed to being fully freestanding, but still provides a robust setup.

Needs a proper manual with diagrams

I received the Siesta XL two days before my first trip, where I'd use it. The biggest regret was not trying to set up the tent before leaving, as it doesn't arrive with any instructions. The instructions are available online in a PDF, but they are poorly written. The pictures are NOT helpful. For example, there's no diagram that can quickly show you how pieces fit together. The photos are just not helpful, as they show intermediate steps but lack any useful details. In the end, we got the tent up, but it took way longer than necessary.
We also would have appreciated some guidance on the fans. The pictures show them blowing air IN, but unless you're on a cot, they don't provide direct relief to the occupants. I've brought a few things to help with that for next time. However, friends who bought the smaller model said they prefer the fans to vent OUT, which created a nice breeze from the low vents and kept it cool. Again, a short diagram and description of the pros and cons of fan direction would have been useful and kept us cooler over the weekend.

Awesome tent

Upgraded from a 9 person core tent to this. It’s actually dark inside when compared to dark room tents/doesn’t turn into a oven, great ventilation, separate inner bedroom is great with air gap/fans, stayed about 10degrees cooler then ambient temps which allowed us to sleep till 1-2pm each day, easy setup.

Couple minor improvements & the tent could be even better.
